Irene has had a colourful life starting in Adelaide and living in Darwin, Indonesia, and Brisbane. During that time, she gained a wealth of different experiences.
Working in accountancy, schools, films, marrying couples, organizing events, heading committees, developing craft products, facilitating workshops and volunteering her time to support orphans, the elderly and people with disabilities to live a more fulfilling life.
She and Wayne, her husband developed craft products which were exported to NZ and USA, and they held regular workshops around Australia at major craft exhibitions.
They taught people to make their own custom mirrors placing photos and images inside them, a wonderful technique for displaying wedding photos, and held workshops for people to make custom glasses for weddings, parties, and special occasions.
Their workshops were booked out within minutes of the exhibition doors opening. – Always a crowd favourite.
Life changed when Nathan, Irene’s son’s deteriorating health meant that he had only a short time to live. They made the most of every day. She held the view that she would focus on making every day Nathan had extra special.
On his last appointment to his physiotherapist, they made the journey in a stretch limo. It was a magic moment seeing the smile on his face.
After his passing life gradually got back to some normality although Irene never went back to travelling again. It took some time before she could face being with groups of people or in front of an audience.
Joining Toastmasters, she gradually regained her confidence and took on leadership roles in both her club and as an Area Director.
Irene became curious about becoming a marriage celebrant after Wayne her husband qualified as a celebrant. She made the decision to become a celebrant too.
After she qualified and began marrying couples, she found that being a celebrant, was something that she absolutely loved doing. Meeting couples and being able to help them bring the vision they had for their marriage ceremony to life was rewarding.
She has said that there is a magic moment when couples say their marriage vows. In that moment they are completely focussed on each other, no-one else exists – it is like there is a bubble of love surrounding them, and she can witness that with them, it is truly beautiful.
Irene soon realised when she spoke to couples that there were so many brides and grooms who were overwhelmed by what they needed to do to arrange their wedding.
When Irene and Wayne married, their celebrant helped them with suggestions of locations and other vendors which assisted them in arranging their wedding in only a few weeks.
Irene offered this support to her couples wherever she could, and then went on to produce resources to aid them, from budgeting, to an easy timeline to follow.
Recently she expanded these resources to create a complete program for couples arranging their weddings, saving you heaps of time and money and giving you peace of mind with an easy-to-follow roadmap for your wedding.
This program is available as both a self-paced on-line program with workbooks and videos, and as a 3-day workshop live via zoom. Irene has said that in person workshops will commence as soon as practical.
Irene has a degree in Business in Professional Accounting. Certificate IV in Celebrancy; 1st and 2nd Degree in Reiki; and Certification in Results Coaching, Certification in Wedding planning.
In addition to this she has been involved in public speaking for 10 years and has undertaken professional speaker training.
